Roe Rovers Reserves vs Dungiven Reserves (Home) - 6 March 2010

Stalemate at Ballygudden

Rovers made the short trip to play their neighbours dungiven celtic on saturday with both teams chasing the points for different reasons, rovers to avoid relegation and dungiven chasing second place for promotion.
The two keepers hardly had a save to make in what was a non-eventful game, long odds with these two being the highest scoring teams in the league.
On a day when the rovers manager expected the adrenaline to be pumping with a dazzling display from his men ,it was more a mind-numbing performance from them which lacked any sparkle or panache...on the plus side it was another defensive shut out ,their second on the trot.danny quinn for rovers had a few spectacular half chances while at the other end eoghan quigg was proving dangerous with his silky feet.
rovers should have taken the lead in the 34th minute when captain matty hamilton was put through one on one with the keeper but guided his shot just past the upright.
dungivens best chance came in the second half when gareth murphy steered the ball wide from five yards sliding in at the back post after the ball deflected into his path.
both managers were unhappy with the point at the end with both believing they could have nicked it but on reflection a draw was probably a fair if not predictable result.
